Men's Sex/Pornography Addiction Early Recovery Group

Fridays 1:00 - 2:30

This group is intended for males in early recovery from sex and/or pornography addiction who are committed to sobriety and recovery and open to giving and receiving feedback to/from other members.

The format will be psycho-educational with group discussion on each week's topic. Topics will include the cycle of addiction, a three circle plan, relapse prevention, mental health and addiction, shame, guilt, and empathy, to name a few. Each group will start with a brief check-in from every member regarding sobriety, recovery, progress, and/or struggles, and then shift into the specific group topic.

This is an ongoing group with a maximum of 9 participants; a waitlist will be started when the maximum is reached. Group members are expected to attend weekly and may participate until they are ready for the next step in their recovery process.

A screening and orientation interview is required prior to attending. Group will only be offered in-person at this time.

Too Tired to Care:

Compassion Fatigue and the Caring Professional

Co-facilitated with Shandra De Clerck, MSc, MA, Reg. Psych.

A 6-week therapeutic group for those in caring professions (e.g. nurses, educators, therapists, and homecare) who may be experiencing compassion fatigue.

Symptoms can include feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and burned out, struggling with a decreased sense of purpose and enjoyment in work or feeling less effective, and feeling irritable at work and in personal relationships.

While this experience is not new within caring professions, where individuals open themselves up to the pains of others, the pandemic has heightened this experience for many. Increased demands on time and emotional availability have left significantly less time for self-care and inner nurturing.

By joining this group, you will learn to understand compassion fatigue and rediscover and develop new tools to overcome it, helping you return to being the compassionate, competent, resilient professional whom those in your care have come to know and trust.
